Carbon2Nature joins forces with MERLIN Properties to create the MERLIN Forest

MERLIN Properties and Carbon2Nature join forces to restore more than 200 hectares of high ecological value in Salamanca.

This project represents a long-term commitment and a pioneer in the real estate sector: MERLIN assumes responsibility for the forest for the next 50 years, while Carbon2Nature will be responsible for its technical management, maintenance and monitoring.

An ambitious ecological restoration project

Carbon2Nature is proud to announce our collaboration with MERLIN Properties in the creation of the MERLIN Forest, an ambitious ecological reforestation project in Serradilla del Llano (Salamanca) and adjacent to the Las Batuecas – Sierra de Francia Natural Park.

Thanks to our technical and operational support, this native forest – planted in an area affected by fire – will capture more than 160,000 tonnes of CO₂ over the next 50 years, restoring more than 200 hectares of high ecological value and generating environmental, social and economic benefits.

As a company of the Iberdrola group specialising in nature-based solutions, at Carbon2Nature we take on the technical management, maintenance and monitoring of the project, ensuring its climatic integrity and its contribution to biodiversity, soil improvement and the generation of rural employment. The project will generate carbon credits certified within the framework of the Registry of Absorption Projects of the Ministry for Ecological Transition.

An alliance that demonstrates the power of collaboration

This project is an example of how collaboration between sectors can generate real solutions to climate change. We thank MERLIN Properties for its trust and leadership in betting on a pioneering initiative in the real estate sector, aligned with its “Road to Net Zero” strategy.

At Carbon2Nature we continue to work to scale projects that restore ecosystems, capture carbon and generate positive impact. The MERLIN Forest is a concrete example of what we can achieve when climate ambition meets action.

Projects such as the MERLIN Forest are the result of joining forces. Thanks to the collaboration between MERLIN and Carbon2Nature, today we are helping to bring this area back to life and bring opportunities for a better future. Taking care of the environment is a shared responsibility. And this project is a concrete way to make it happen.
